[Exit, Pursued By A Sloth]

Depeche mode - Corrupt

I could corrupt you in a heartbeat

You think you’re so special

Think you’re so sweet

What are you trying

Don’t even tempt me

Soon you’ll be crying

And wishing you’d dreamt me

You’ll be calling out my name

When you need someone to blame

I could corrupt you it would be easy

Watching you suffer

Girl, it would please me

But I wouldn’t touch you

With my little finger

I know it would crush you

My memory would linger

You’d be crying out in pain

Begging me to play my games

I could corrupt you it would be ugly

They could sedate you

But what good would drugs be?

But I wouldn’t touch you

Put my hands on your hips

It would be too much to

Place my lips on your lips

You’d be calling out my name

Begging me to play my games

You’ll be calling all my names

Begging me to play my games

Depeche mode made a clip from “Corrupt” with True Blood. I thought the lyric suits perfectly. And better: on second season we thought this was about Eric, but this song is about Bill. If you watch the trailer you see Bill lurking around Sookie.

People thought this song was about Eric?

“We thought”? Aw, no sisterman, speak for yourself. This rabid bitch always knew this was about Bill. A sadistic creeper controls and tortures a girl he’s disgusted by, and makes her ask for it, all for funsies? That’s the national anthem of Comptontinople.

But seriously, at one point in this promo (or some version of it, there are a couple), Sookie is pushing Bill away, struggling with him, he twists her arm behind her back, throws her to the ground, bites her, and then she lies there like a corpse. How could anyone think this song about sadism, control, and mindfuckery was about Eric, when all he did was swagger in like a boss and win a staring contest with Bill?

For that matter, how could anyone get past the fist scene in ‘Mine’, and not realize Bill was a Villain? I went into True Blood completely blind, never read the books or heard anything about either except that the show was awesome and had a sparkly gay man named Lafayette in it. And I knew by that scene with the Monroe vamps that Bill= Bad Bad RUN YOU IN DANGER GIRL. Don’t get me wrong, I thought he was creepy and suspicious before that, that scene just nailed my suspicion to the church door. And then by that scene in ‘Sparks Fly Out’, where Bill is in the church kitchen alone, undrunk bottle of True Blood next to him, just staring at nothing like it owes him money, was the notary stamp and glitter-pen signature on my Thesis On Bill Compton’s Status As A Creepy Sadistic Weirdo Who Is Not To Be Trusted.
