Wanna bet that all the information Salome had was not from Godric but rather from the mendacious Mr. Compton instead? The trap has been set.

She wouldn’t have known the details of Eric’s turning from Bill and probably not from Nora also. And I highly doubt that Bill thought that Godric was glorious. I suspect that Salome really did know Godric. They were both 2,000 years old and traveled across Europe and Middle East.

But Godric didn’t know shit about Sookie rejecting Eric, because he’s been a bit too busy sewing white peasant blouses and quoting Bjork while being all kinds of dead. That’s all Bill. Only Bill, Eric, and Sookie knew about that. So where could Salome possibly gotten that information? Fucking Bill. Who also knows that Godric gentled in his later years, and that Nora is Eric’s ‘sister’.

I’m sure Salome knew of Godric before this, and probably even knew Eric was his child (which, while not a widely known fact, wasn’t a secret, the vamps in Dallas knew). And his turning story was pretty fucking badass, so it’s reasonable it got told to a few people along the way. That doesn’t mean Bill didn’t stupidly try to use Salome for his own purposes by telling all of Eric’s weaknesses.

And this little meeting simply has me more convinced than ever that Nora isn’t Eric’s sister. The only one we know that knows that is Bill. And I would believe Bill told one of Eric’s secrets over Godric any day of the week, and twice on Sundays. It would be so easy to trap Bill by feeding him a lie and letting him believe it a secret truth. It’s not as simple as Eric testing Bill’s loyalty or trustworthiness, since Eric knows he’s a duplicitous douche that wants him dead. There must be some other way for Bill to hang himself with this. Perhaps some kind of blood magic that just won’t work, since they’re not related. Or Eric is just casting lines left and right, to see what he can catch.

Salome is also using plain intuition and psychology to try to ferret information out. While she may know some basic facts, all her attempts at showing that she knew supposedly intimate details of Eric’s life was a magnificent bluff. And it failed spectacularly, as you see her increasingly desperate attempts to seduce him. All of which ultimately failed. If he had sex with her, it was because he felt he had to, either to keep up appearances or because of her subtle threats, neither of which indicate a successful seduction (having sex out of obligation is not seduction). But I’m not even certain he did have sex with her, the scene was shot in such a way to leave it open. He could have pulled a big ol’ LATER BITCH and skipped out of the room.

(No, his elevator scene with Bill is not confirmation. Why anyone believes anything Eric says in front of enemies is beyond me.)

(And just because Salome said Godric was glorious doesn’t mean Bill said it. She’s not a Speak-N-Say.)

(Godric and Salome are over 2,000 years old. I assume they also visited Asia and Africa and the Americas in that time too. Even shiny new Australia.)

I don’t know why I persist in arguing with a crazy person who sees things that are not there,

You seem a bit perturbed, darling. What vexes you so?

but the Texas vamps didn’t know that Godric was Eric’s maker. Not even Pam knew. That came out later.

What…are you talking about? There was nothing about Pam not knowing who Godric was in the show. She didn’t know what happened to Eric’s human family, but there was nothing to indicate she didn’t know who Godric was. The only time she was even involved in a conversation about him was the haircutting scene, where she tells Eric humble doesn’t suit him when he says Godric is twice the vampire he is. That’s just typical Pam being Eric’s #1 cheerleader, not that she didn’t know her own grandpa.

And the Dallas vamps [at least Isobel and Stan] did know Eric was Godric’s. Isobel told Eric “We invited you here [to search for Godric] as a courtesy. This is not your territory.” Why would they invite another kingdom’s sheriff in to search for a vampire unless they were related?

Later, after Sookie and Hugo were locked up, Stan said “The Fellowship has your maker and your telepath and still, you do nothing.” So yeah, they knew.

Sophie-Anne also knew, but Bill could have told her when he found out.

And don’t forget what The Magister told Bill at his trial; they keep records of turnings, and who turned who. They’re probably not complete, and Eric was turned before the Authority’s existence, but there is at least a partial database of vampire family trees out there, somewhere.

Eric keeps his family history close to his chest, so it can’t be used against him like Salome was attempting to do with Nora. Nobody except Godric knew how Eric was turned. Do you think Godric was telling the story about how he got his hands on an adorable 6’4” viking at every local pub?

Apparently he did, if Salome knew.

Telling a few people in a thousand years is not the same as telling everyone at a local pub.

And Eric was there, too. When he was young and reckless, he might have been all “MY MAKER IS THE BEST MAKER AND CAN KICK YOUR MAKER’S ASS AND WE HAVE THE BEST RELATIONSHIP BECAUSE HE DIDN’T FORCE ME TO BE A VAMPIRE HE GAVE ME A CHOICE AS I LAY DYING AND MY MAKER TURNED ME ON MY FUCKING FUNERAL PYRE BECAUSE HE IS A PINT-SIZED BADASS WITH DREADLOCKS AND AWESOME TATS AND I LOVE MY MAKER LOOK HE MADE ME THIS PEASANT BLOUSE ISN’T IT PRETTY?” while doing an interpretive dance number that represents the love he has for his daddy.

Bill doesn’t know how Eric was turned. Nora probably also doesn’t know the exact details because why should she? The reason that Salome knew these things is because she knew Godric. They were probably lovers and confidants once upon a time just like she and Roman are now.

The key word there is ‘probably’. That’s all just supposition, and no more or less true than my own particular theory. There’s nothing connecting Godric and Salome aside from her word, and my, she doesn’t have a reason to lie, does she?

But you know what? I’m not willing to dismiss the idea out of hand because I think my idea is the only one that could possibly be right, and anyone who doesn’t think so is crazy and sees things that aren’t there.

In fact, let’s say Salome’s account is accurate, that Godric let spill all these secrets about him and his baby boy, cause that’s a thing Godric would totally do. Except not really, so what would compel him to do so with our gal Sally? Could this be what Eric ominously referenced all the way back in season 2 when he said ‘Nothing human’ in response to Isobel’s query about what could capture Godric? Salome and Godric are about the same age, so is there something more to Salome than just being a vampire?

And nobody mentioned Sookie at all. Salome was grasping at straws telling Eric that he had been hurt.

Not by name, no. But really, she had just said he’d just been emotionally hurt, and he had just been emotionally hurt by Sookie. Bill may not have mentioned her by name (not because he gives a damn about Sookie, because he doesn’t), just that some human girl rejected the viking, and he got his knickers in a twist about it.

Eric is broadcasting a broken heart, and Salome is a good judge of men.

He’s broadcasting not giving a fuck. Bored disinterest. Not a single fuck was given that day. World-weariness. The only time he’s shown emotion is when Nora or Godric was mentioned.

Now, Salome is probably very good at reading people. I mean, any 2,000 year old vamp should be, but she’s probably particularly good at it, since she appears to have survived not by conquering through strength of arms, but by stealth and slyness, by finding the cracks in people and exploiting them.

However, her ‘seduction’ of Eric was hilariously non-successful. She was not able to grasp what made him tick. So she’s not a very good judge of Eric. Especially if she thought that ordering him to STICK IT IN was going to go over well with him.

And yes, I’m aware that this isn’t a seduction. Salome had Eric brought to her bedroom to fuck her; neither of them is pretending otherwise. The talk was just to ensure Eric’s cooperation.

Why is all this sex necessary? Not just with Eric, but Bill too. I mean, what’s the purpose? It’s surely not to ensure loyalty, nobody here is that naive. Sex and magic are interconnected, is Salome using some form of sex magic here? (Yes, that is a thing, a very very old thing indeed) To what end? What would she gain from it?

And Nora is Eric’s sister because he said so and because why the fuck else would she risk her career and her life for him? For his gracious plenty?

Oh, okay, so we’re believing everything Eric says in front of enemies now, are we?

So I guess he also

  • Is not into the ladies
  • Thinks Russell Edgington is a glorious King
  • Thinks Bill Compton was selling vampire blood
  • Is not interested in Sookie
  • Doesn’t give a shit about Sookie
  • Was delighted to forcibly bite Sookie
  • Was totally willing to trade Sookie’s life/blood for his freedom
  • Etc Etc Etc

Hey, Nora may be his sister. I am just waiting for clear outside confirmation to prove it. Because I don’t believe ANYTHING Eric says in front of enemies is the unvarnished truth. And Bill is his enemy, and he knows that. He’s not stupid. Sookie rejecting him did not make him stupid. He’s one thousand years old, not an infatuated tween.

You have to admit, it would be a very keen way to entrap Bill if Nora isn’t his sister and Bill is the only one who thinks she is. And that Eric, he’s quite keen.

What hold could Eric possibly have over Nora that she would undergo torture and confess to being a traitor to save him if he weren’t her family? Nobody does shit like that for a random stranger.

She was ordered to by her maker, who is Eric’s real Friend In High Places.

She and Eric are comrades-in-arms against a bigger threat, of which Bill is a part of. She’s doing it for the cause, not Eric.

She’s a religious zealot, is under the impression that Eric is as well.

Because it is just like you said, Eric keeps his familial connections close to the chest. Because you don’t expose your weaknesses. Except apparently to the dude who keeps trying to kill you. That totally makes sense.
