ugh…
going through Game Of Thrones Tags and finding a lot of ‘omg sansa and sandor 5ever’ type of posts. just no. Sandor openly admits to Arya that he regrets not raping Sansa when he had the chance during the battle of blackwater, that’s not the makings of a good love storyline. wow, some people have issues…
Did you miss the part of the admission where he was trying to get Sansa’s sister to kill him, so he wouldn’t die slowly and painfully of blood loss and infection on the Trident?
I think telling an already violent girl that you wish you raped her sister is a pretty good way to get her to kill you. Fortunately for Sandor, Arya isn’t as bloodthirsty as he thought, and couldn’t kill the man she knew she was in debt to (she had already taken him out of her nightly murder prayer). Or she’s more sadistic then he thought, and wanted him to die as painfully as possible. Hard to tell with Arya.
There was never anything in the Hound’s actions that suggest he ever would have been sexually violent with anyone. Just because Gregor has a reputation as a Riding Mountain of Rape doesn’t mean Sandor is cut from the same cloth. If for no other reason, Sandor wouldn’t rape simply because Gregor does. When told that “The Hound” was responsible for the sacking of Saltpans, the two people who knew him best (Jaime and Sansa) express doubt that Sandor would be involved in that kind of brutality, though no one else does.
Sansa described Sandor as being oddly gentle with her physically, and Arya knew that he would never follow through on threats of violence. The Hound is a dog whose bark is worse than his bite, at least when it comes to girls.
“And the little bird, your pretty sister, I stood there in my white cloak and let them beat her. I took the bloody song, she never gave it. I meant to take her too. I should have. I should have fucked her bloody and ripped her heart out before leaving her for that dwarf.”
When trying to goad Arya into mercy-killing him, Sandor is not lamenting the fact that he never got to rape Sansa, he’s lamenting the fact that he left her to the mercy of Lannisters, specifically Tyrion, a fate which he considers so terrible that she would be better off dead. After all, Tyrion did participate in the gang-rape of his last wife. It’s not certain whether Sandor was at Casterly Rock or King’s Landing at that time, but even if he wasn’t there, he likely would have heard about it from the guardsmen who participated. He has a lot of animosity towards Tyrion, and it has to come from somewhere. I’ve got a lot of my own personal theories about that, but now is not the time.
